If you sign up your best rider for a race as captain, he has an off day and fails to get a result.
If you forget to sign up your best rider, you make the two most suitable riders you signed up double captains. The one suiting the race the least will get you the best result in that kind of race of your season (something like a 5th place, for instance). The one most suitable for the race will have an off day.
Of course, why didn't I think of that sooner....

Hamzter!!
Let's call it the "Don Hamster effect" (Notice the slight difference in Don's last name.) LOL
Rule of shear don luck?
Hamstre wheel logic
We should make a law of these logic events I guess. Anyone has a good name for it? :p
And he has very poor DP compared to the captain. But those "super legs" turn a sucky injured lead out rider in to superman! LOL
Also make note of this. "If you signed up for 2 races and a lead out rider gets injured in the 1st race, during the 2nd race he will have super legs and beat the captain even though he is injured and sucks a lot more then the captain does." LOL
besides at least you got fifth, i got elevent with my best rider as captain who didn't have an off day
hence the saying, last but not least
